March 4, 2005 – During the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW2005) the US Federation Moderated the panel titled, “Women in Islam: East Meets West.” Speakers included: From Casablanca , Morocco, Mrs. Najat Ikhich of the Ytto Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to housing and rehabilitating women victims of violence. Mrs. Suad M. Marafie, a senior Aerobioligst and social activist with the Kuwaiti Women Voluntary Society for Humanity. Mrs. Hadil El-Kholy represented CELWA of Cairo, Egypt. The feature speaker for the panel was Dr. Saeeda Malik, Minister of Women Development and Social Welfare from the government of Karachi, Pakistan. She is also a Medical Surgeon.
